A boxy tee lives or dies on proportion. If the body is too long it becomes a plain oversized tee; if the chest is too narrow it just looks short. Getting the chest-to-length ratio right is pattern work, not a fabric choice.
Mike Apparel builds boxy fit t-shirts on a wide, short block with a squared hem that sits at the beltline, a dropped shoulder and a wider sleeve opening. We start from a 1.05 to 1.15 chest-to-length ratio and adjust to your reference. As a custom boxy fit t-shirt manufacturer, Mike Apparel runs 50-piece minimums, samples every style before bulk and turns production in 2–3 weeks, with your labels sewn in at the factory.
Fabrics we run for t-shirts
We hold these fabrics for t-shirts and knit or weave others to spec. Each has a different hand, drape and shrink profile, and the sample stage exists so you can feel the difference before committing 50 pieces to it. On this product the two fabrics we quote most are 240 GSM combed cotton jersey (holds a square shape without stiffness) and 300 GSM heavy jersey (the structured boxy look that photographs well).
| Fabric | Specification | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| 240 GSM combed cotton jersey | 100% cotton, compacted | holds a square shape without stiffness |
| 300 GSM heavy jersey | 100% cotton | the structured boxy look that photographs well |
| 260 GSM cotton interlock | 100% cotton, double knit | smooth face for large prints, no curling at the hem |
| 250 GSM organic cotton | GOTS-certifiable on request | sustainable capsule lines |
Fit and silhouette options
Fit is graded from our house blocks or from your tech pack, in US sizing from XS to 3XL, with each size measured on the pre-production sample against your spec sheet. For a boxy fit t-shirt, we usually sample the classic boxy: wide chest, hem 3–5 cm above a regular tee first and adjust from there.
- Classic boxy: wide chest, hem 3–5 cm above a regular tee
- Cropped boxy for women's and unisex crop lines
- Boxy long-sleeve with wide cuffs
- Half-sleeve boxy with a 5 cm longer sleeve
Boxy Fit T-Shirt construction
Our default build for t-shirts. Change any line in the tech pack; the sample confirms it. On a boxy fit t-shirt the detail buyers notice first is the squared hem with a 2.5–3 cm folded finish to keep the box shape.
- Squared hem with a 2.5–3 cm folded finish to keep the box shape
- Side seams to control width across the grade
- Wide 1×1 rib neck or self-fabric bound neck
- Sleeve cuffs hemmed straight, never tapered
- Optional side slits to stop the hem riding up
Embellishment and wash
Every embellishment listed here is produced in our own print, embroidery and wash departments in Sialkot. Panels are decorated before assembly where placement demands it. Boxy Fit T-Shirt artwork usually goes on as centre-chest and full-back screen print.
- Centre-chest and full-back screen print
- Small left-chest embroidery
- Sleeve hit prints
- Pigment dye for a faded boxy look
- Contrast rib neck in a second colour

Labels, tags and packaging
Private label is included, not an upsell. A custom t-shirt from Mike Apparel ships with your woven or printed neck label, size tab, care label and, if you want them, hang tags, custom poly bags and printed boxes. Send vector artwork and we produce label samples alongside the garment sample. See our private label clothing page for label types, minimums and artwork specs. A typical boxy fit t-shirt run carries a woven main label, printed care label and hang tag; square fit tee programmes often add a woven hem loop.
Boxy Fit T-Shirt pricing by quantity
Per-piece pricing for t-shirts at each quantity band. The low end is a simpler spec (lighter fabric, one embellishment); the high end is heavyweight fabric, multiple placements and full packaging. A detailed breakdown is on our how much does it cost to manufacture a t-shirt in bulk?. At the low end a boxy fit t-shirt in 240 GSM combed cotton jersey with one placement lands near $6.5; at the top, 300 GSM heavy jersey with multiple placements and full packaging reaches $12.

|---|---|
| 50–100 pieces | $6.50 – $12.00 |

| 300–1,000 pieces | $5.07 – $9.36 |

Sampling is charged at 2–3x the bulk unit price and credited back on the bulk order. A first boxy fit t-shirt run at $6.5–$12 per piece lands in the USA for about $9.5–$18 per piece by air.

US and international delivery
Most of our t-shirt production ships to the United States, DDP, meaning duties, taxes and customs clearance are paid by us and included in the quote. Air freight lands in New York or Chicago in four to seven days after the run ships; sea freight takes four to five weeks and costs less for larger orders. We also ship to the UK, Canada, Australia, the EU and the UAE. See streetwear manufacturing for USA brands and our DDP shipping page. For boxy fit t-shirt reorders over 300 pieces we quote sea freight alongside air so you can trade a few weeks for a lower landed cost.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between boxy and oversized?
Oversized is bigger everywhere, including length. Boxy is wider in the chest and shorter in the body, so the silhouette reads as a square. Many brands run both on separate blocks.
Can you do a women's boxy crop?
Yes. We grade a separate women’s boxy block with a hem 8–12 cm shorter than the unisex version and a slightly narrower shoulder.
Which fabric keeps a boxy shape best?
Interlock or 280–300 GSM jersey. Lighter jersey drapes and softens the square silhouette. If you want a light boxy tee, we stabilise the hem with a wider fold.
What is the minimum order for boxy tees?
50 pieces per design and colour. Sample first, 7–10 days, then 2–3 weeks for the run.
