- 100% cotton vs 80/20: +$1.20 – $2.50 for cotton at the same weight.
- Washes: enzyme +$0.80, vintage/pigment dye +$2–$3, acid wash +$4–$6.
- Each additional print or embroidery placement: +$0.60 – $4 depending on size and stitch count; puff and chenille at the top of the range.

Is it cheaper to manufacture hoodies or buy blanks?
At 50 pieces, a custom hoodie and a premium wholesale blank plus local decoration cost about the same. From 100 pieces upward, custom is cheaper, and you own the fit, the fabric and the label. The crossover is worked through in cut and sew vs blank apparel. Where blanks win is speed for a first 20-piece test and zero sampling cost.
Worked example: 100 oversized hoodies for a US brand
Spec: 400 GSM 100% cotton brushed fleece, oversized block, one 3D puff chest embroidery, woven neck label, size and care labels, hang tag, poly bag. Factory price at 100 pieces: about $21 per piece, $2,100. Sample: $60, credited. DDP air freight to Los Angeles: roughly $450. Landed cost: $25.50 per hoodie. At a $95 retail price that is a 73% gross margin before marketing. At 300 pieces the same spec lands near $20.
